The Baltimore Ravens are not currently in a rush to sign another veteran edge rusher, but general manager Eric DeCosta has left the door wide open for a potential addition later in the offseason.
During a recent interview on 105.7 The Fan alongside Bruce Cunningham and former Ravens linebacker and Super Bowl champion Femi Ayanbadejo, DeCosta outlined the team’s current approach to the edge rusher position and why they are exercising patience.
“Never say never. A lot of it will come down to how we evaluate these guys over the next month or so, especially once we get deeper into the offseason program toward the end of June.”
DeCosta’s remarks indicate that Baltimore wants to first assess the development of the younger pass rushers already on the roster before making any significant moves. The Ravens invested heavily in youth during the draft, and they believe several players could show notable improvement during offseason workouts and training camp.
At the same time, DeCosta’s comments keep the possibility alive for a late veteran signing if the team feels it needs additional depth or production. This isn’t a new strategy for Baltimore. The franchise used a similar approach in 2023, bringing in Jadeveon Clowney late in the offseason—who went on to produce one of the best campaigns of his career.
The Ravens have proven in recent years that they won’t hesitate to add veteran talent when the timing is right. As the summer progresses, fans could see Baltimore revisit the market for an experienced edge rusher.
