Romário has revealed the four clubs he believes have the strongest chance of winning the Brazilian Championship: Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Corinthians. The former striker shared his thoughts in an interview with commentator Cleber Machado on the program Esporte Record, which aired on Sunday (10).
When asked whether there are ten clubs capable of fighting for the Brasileirão title, Romário replied that while it would be possible to list ten traditional teams, only four have the potential to be champions.
According to the 1994 World Cup winner, the choice takes into account both current form and the club’s history. He believes that beyond the current league leaders, Fluminense is enjoying a strong phase, and Corinthians, despite struggling in the points-based standings, carries significant weight due to its prestige.
“In terms of names, we have ten, but in practice, on the field, we have Flamengo, Palmeiras… you can add Fluminense today, and you add Corinthians. It’s heavy, a team that commands respect,” Romário said.
During the interview, Romário also expressed support for Neymar’s call-up by coach Carlo Ancelotti. The former forward, who was a key player in Brazil’s 1994 World Cup triumph, argued that the current number 10 makes a difference in the squad.
