Moscow’s FC Rodina, owned by Fix Price co-founder Sergey Lomakin, has secured promotion to the Russian Premier League (RPL) for the first time in its history. The team defeated Chelyabinsk 2-0 in a home match of the First League’s 33rd round, guaranteeing at least a second-place finish with one game left.

Goals came from Ivan Timoshenko (25th minute) and Artur Gharibyan (88th). With 65 points, Rodina now leads the First League, matching Voronezh’s Fakel, which had already secured its spot in the top flight. Yekaterinburg’s Ural (58 points) and Volgograd’s Rotor (53) will compete in the promotion playoffs.
Founded in 2019 from the Rodina Academy, the club obtained its license for the Russian second division (now Second League) that same year. Billionaire Sergey Lomakin, co-founder of retail chain Fix Price, is the owner. Rodina plays its home fixtures at the Arena Khimki and is managed by Spanish head coach Juan Díaz.
